CROSSING COLLISION.
BETWEEN MOTOR AND TRAIN
A WOMAN KILLED

A collision occurred at Kaupakakap railway station crossing between a motor car and a train, which resulted in Mrs. Frank Gordon being killed. Of the other occupants of the motor. Mrs. Dudley Hill was extensively bruised, and is suffering from shock. Mr. Denton Tanner received a bad fracture of the left knee and severe cuts and briuses over the body, and Mr. Hill had two ribs broken, severe cuts and bruises over the body, and and face. Mr. Tanner and Mrs. Hill who were seated in the back of the car, state that they have no recollection of how the accident happened—i! was so sudden. Hill, who was driving the car, states that he was not aware of the crossing, as he was looking ahead. Ho noticed no sign, and did not hear the train whistle. Mrs. Gordon was seated beside Hill. The party was from Hawke’s Bay on a touring trip, Mrs. Gordon being the wife ol Frank Gordon, of Hawke’s Bay, Mrs. Hill and Mrs. Gordon are sisters, and Tanner is a brother, their father being Mr. Thos. Tanner, one of the oldest and most highly respected farmers in the Hawke’s Bay district. The railway crossing where the accident occurred is very dangerous.
