The stable hand arrested has partly confessed to the Bucknow murders. Three suspected accomplices are in custody.
THE SHAOKLETON CHARGES
London, January 10
R. R. Shaokleton was remanded at Bond Street for the alleged conversion of £IOOO in trust moneys belonging to Miss Josephine Browne. London, January 11.
Shaokleton has waived all extradition formalities. Mr Lobito Humphrey, who is prosecuting, stated that warrants had been issued for other offences.
A QUEENSLAND LOAN
London, January 11
The underwriting is proceeding for a two million Queensland loan,' at 4. per cent.
The Queensland loan has been issued on the understanding that the State will pay a full quarter’s interest on April 1 and a final instalment of 50 per cent, will be payable on April 10, a bonus of about 15 per cent.

London, January 11
James Gavin and Pat Kelly have been remanded q,t Ennis for grievously wounding MacNamara, a barrister, by a gun shot, at his residence in County Clare, over a land dispute.
THE BATTLESHIP MELBOURNE
London, January 11
The Australian battleship Melbourne will do her final trial at Birkenhead on January 17, sailing on January 18. She will remain at Plymouth until January 28.
A LINER ON FIRE
London, January 11
The Carthagenian took fire in raidocean, but the fire was extinguished by pumping water into the hold. The damage is estimated at £2OOO. There was no’panic.
SWINDLERS SENTENCED
London, January 11
Cameron and Collins, promoters of a wireless telephone stock company, swindled the public of a million dollars in stock-selling. They have been sent to gaol for seven and five years’ respectively.
EX-PRESIDENT CASTRO
New York, January 11
Tho Court has announced that it will not interfere with ex-President Castro’s claim to enter the United States until the immigration authorities have decided whether he has a right to remain.
A BLIZZARD AT HOME
London, January 12
A fierce blizzard has been experienced in Scotland, Wales and the North of England. The roads and passes are blocked with snow, and many wrecks are reported.
WOOL PACKS

Acton Adams and de Little, wool growers’ representatives, in a minority report, say that no satisfactory solution’is possible unlos wool buyers agree to pay part of the extra cost. i the steel trust. Witnesses, speaking on the tariff question at hearings before the Democratic Committee, said the Steel Trust allowed independent companies to exist merely on sufferance. If the tariffs were lowered the Steel Trust would drive out all competition and ruin the independents.
CAPTAIN AMUNDSEN’S MODESTY

Captain Amundsen was the guest of the National Georgraphical Society and received a medal. He declaied that the exploit was not greater than those of other explorers who had braved the Antarctic. A MINING FATALITY
St. Petersburg, January 12
A cage fell in the shaft of a mine at Ekaterinalav, and seven men were killed and five injured.
DROUGHT PRODUCES RIOTS
Madrid, January 12
The prolonged drought in Orense culminated in labour riots at Carballino. The rioters pillaged cellars and granaries. Troops have been dispatched.
