ATHLETICS.
Capetown, January 12
Postle defeated Walker in 50 and 60 yards sprints at Durban, and forfeited in the 75 yards, owing to leg strain. FOOTBALL. Bordeaux, January 12. The Springboks defeated France by 38 points to 5.
BOXING.
Sydney, January 12
Poesy, the French boxer, beat Hock Keys in a twenty-round fight, on points. Joe Russell beat Traffier, the French boxer. Traffier claimed a f ull in the twelfth round, bub this was disallowed. He, therefore, declined to fight further.
SWIMMING.
Sydney January 12
The Hundred Yards Swimming Championship of New South Wales resulted:—W. Longworth 1, E. Wickham 2, A. Barry 3. Won by a touch. Time, 57 4-ssec.
Half - mile Championship.—Longworth 1, Smith 2, T. Adrian 3. Won by twenty-seven yards. Time, llmin 58 l-ssec.
MOTOR BOAT RACES.
London, Januarv 11
Mr. A. Horden’s Kangaroo won the motor, boat speed championship of Australasia. The course was from Rose Bay to Manly and back twice. The Kangaroo won the first heat in 38min 35sec, a rate of 29.8 miles per hour; and the second in 39min losec.
FOOTBALL.

Of thirty-two Football Association Cup ties, eight were not played, and eight others were abandoned owing to the bad weather.
