AMUSEMENTS.

HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE

To-night a splendid programme ol pictures is promised at His Majesty’s Theatre, when “The Missing Finger” is the star film. The story is a thrilling one, and excellent acting raises it above the level of the ordinary picture. Patrons should pot miss this detective drama. A good comedy picture will be screened in “A Leap Year Lottery Prize.” Ralph Dinsmore, the young minister, is very popular with the fair contingent of nis flock. Being called from the West, he was rather shy at the game of hearts, he did like Grace Walker, blit. lacked the courage to tell her so. The parson has a housekeeper, single, and of mature age, she likes her Piaster very much and does not disguise it. Bob Smith, a friend, sees the situation and to help out, proposes a lottery, the prize to lie the minister and the winning ticket to bo annexed to Grace. Sarah Sqnibbs gets wind of the scheme and juggles thfc tickets so that her number (23) will win. The situation is terrible until the conspirators conceive the idea of dressing up-the ice man in female garb and presenting himself as a former wife. The game works beautifully and poor Sarah being terrified at the irate supposed wife, makes her escape via the kitchen window' and little Grace secures the prize. Other films to be screened this evening include “Lessons in Liquid Air,” a scientific film of merit, “A Trip to Senegal,” shelving glimpses of the Soudan, and a drama, “The Moorish Maid,” a reproduction of Alfred. Hill’s and Yonlin Birch’s opera. . Wil/h characteristic generosity, Madame Bernard has kindly offered to give a matinee benefit entertainment ivt His Majesty’s Theatre on January ,l.Bth at 1.30 p.m., the whole of the proceeds to go to the fund in aid of the widow and children of the late %. Smith, of Stratford. There is, of course, considerable expense entailed by the management in giving this matinee, and we feel sure that Stratford residents will not be outdone in generosity, and will give the entertainment their patronage. Tickets are being circulated to-day.
