THE CHEESE MARKET. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, January 10. Mr. Turner, representative of Lonsddle and Co., London, has received a cable message from his firm as follows: —“Can you bring any influence upon the factories to instruct their consignees not to* sell cheese under 625, London?” It is understood that this is in consequence of the continued fall in the cheese market at Home, which dealers consider is not warranted by circumstances, and they believe that better prices will be obtained as the direct effect of a united effort. THE MEAT MARKET. London, January 10. Wcddel’s annual report on the frozen moat trade says that owing to trade prosperity an improved consumption of meat is likely in 1913, but there is not likely to be a material increase in the exporting capacity of Australia, New Zealand, and South America. Domestic supplies are also almost certain to contract. A general shortage is probable, unless foot and mouth disease focres British farmers to kill their cattle. There is every indication that fresh meat has nearly overtaken the world’s prodttetion. THE WORLD’S WHEAT YIELD. Washington, January 10. The Department of Agriculture’s estimate of the world’s wheat yield for 1913 is 3,369,000 bushels. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Limited and Reduced, have received the following cablegram from their London house, under date January Bth:—-Wheat: We have sold a handy Australian cargo at 37s 6d c.i.f. There is a fair demand, and the outlook is encouraging. We quote pei quarter, c.i.f., New Zealand wheat, long-berried, 34s 9d, short-berried 34s 3d. Oats—We quote: Gartons at 24s Bd. There is a fair demand.
