ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.

DOUBLE DROWNING FATALITY. (Per Press Association.) Auckland, January 8. 'A sad drowning fatality occurred at Henderson to-day, resulting in the death of Sarah Wright, wife of W. H. Wright, farmer, and of Miss Renie Parkinson, a young girl of 14. The party was out bathing in the Henderson Creek, when Miss Harre got into difficulties. Another of the party succeeded in pulling her out. While this was happening, Miss Parkinson slipped off a shelving ledge over slippery i rocks into the hole. An alarm was given, and Mrs. Wright was pulled out, but the unfortunate woman was then dead. Miss Parkinson’s body has not been recovered.

DROWNED WHILE BATHING. Auckland, January 8. A man named Charles Smith, aged 3G, was drowned on the beach near Waimauku to-day. No particulars are available. DROWNED IN A LAKE. Masterton, January 8. A lad named William Sinclair, a nine-year-old son of William Sinclair, billiard saloon keeper, of this town, was bathing in the Park Lane this afternoon with other children, when he suddenly sank in deep water. His body was recovered half an hour later, and efforts were made to restore animation, but without avail.
