ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
DROWNED IN THE WANGANUI. (Per Press Association.) Wanganui, January 9. A man named Mack Brady, about forty/years of age, a well-known contractor, fell off the river steamer at Raiwhaike this morning and was drowned. The boat was travelling fast against a strong current. Brady was carried a long way astern and sank before assistance could reach him. The body has not been recovered. ( FATAL TRAP ACCIDENT. # Hastings, January 9. Carol Frederick Goldaminer, 84 years of age, a widower, and a visitor from- Dunedin, met with a fatal trap accident on Pakowhai Road, four miles from Hastings, last evening! In company with friends deceased was driving towards Meanee, when the horse shied at a mob of cattle and jerked the trap backwards. Goldaminer was thrown on his head and died in a few minutes. Married daughters are residing at Palmerston North and Dunedin.
