PROPORTIONAL REPRESENTATION. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. (United Press Association.) London, January 8. In j,lic House of Commons, the Government accepted Sir Alfred Mend’s amendment providing for the proportional representation of any constituency returning over two members to the Irish House of Commons for a period of three years. This applies to Dublin, Dublin County, Cork, and Pelfast. It is estimated that the Unionists A\ill gain from three to six seats by it. Mr. Redmond approved of the amendment. THE HOME RULE BILL. (Received 9.35 a.m.) London, January 8. Mr. Asquith (Prime Minister), in the House of Commons, announced that the third reading of the Home Rule Bill Avill he taken on Wednesday and Thursday next.
