BIBLE IN SCHOOLS.
FEDERATION OF CATHOLICS. (Per Press Association.) Auckland, January 6. Bishop Cleary stated in the course of a sermon on Biblc-in-scbools last night that the Catholic laity have taken steps for immediate federation of all Catholic Associations and individuals in New Zealand, in strenuous resistance to what he described as a serious attempted invasion of the rights of the conscience of ratepayers, parents, teachers and pupils. It was essentially a lay movement, its motto being never to attack the faith of others and never to permit others with impunity to attack Catholics in faith nr religious or civil rights. The Bishop hoped the organisation would break down the un-Christian rancour now being fomented in the Dominion.
