ROMAN CATHOLIC PROTESTS. Hobart, January 3. Dr. Delaney, Roman Catholic Archbishop, in a letter to the press, protests against the appointment of Mr. Macartney, a past grandmaster of an Orange Lodge of Ulster, as Governor of Tasmania. Ho adds that if the Premier know the facts and acquisced in the appointment, ho must not bo surprised to learn that Catholics, feel rightly aggrieved at the turn to be played off on them. The Tasmanian branch of the United Irish League also cabled protests to Messrs. Redmond, Asquith and Lloyd George.
