THE GREATEST ILLUSION.
ALL-ENGLAND JOINT STOCK COMPANY. (Received 8.10 a.m.) London, January 2. Mr. Frederic Harrison, in an address before the Positivist Society, said the greatest illusion of the time was the prospect of Imperial Defence by an All-England Joint Stock Company of unlimited liability with an Imperial Budget, wherein the colonials fixed the cost of the British workmen’s food. National defence was the most urgent duty, but compulsory service would cause a civil war.
