THE CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING. ,-,r , (Per Press Association.) Napier, December 31. A large attendance again greeted tlfe continuing of the Australasian championship this morning. Fine weather was again experienced, and the courts were found to be holding W6ll. The play during the day was attractive, and as a consequence, the Selectors had the opportunity of witnessing some fine games. The ex'Cfiampion of New Zealand was luckily <Mwn against Parke, the leading player of . the English team, and, although he fell to the redoubtable visitor,. all were delighted ywith the local man’s play. The first match of the day was between Swanston and Pearce. Swanston played a waiting game from the outset, -and took the set, 6—2, 6—l, 6—2.
Parke (England) heat Olliver (New Zealand), 6—o, 6—l, B—6. It was a fin© game. Beamish heat Dixon, both of England, 6—2, 7—5, 6—l. Beamish heat Brown (New Zealand), 6—l, 6—l, 6—2.
Lowe and Beamish heat Swanston and Peacock, 7—5, 6—l, B—lo, 6—3. Napier, January 1. The Tournament was continued today at Hastings in fine weather. Only the finals Were played. There was a big attendance and fine play evoked great enthusiasm. Results:— Parke heat Beamish, 3—6, 6—3, I—6. 61, 7—5; Dixon and Parke heat Beamish and Low, 6—2, 6—4. 6—4. In the final of the championship for the New Zealand Championship Combined Doubles Ollivier and Miss Hartgill beat Fisher and Miss Tr.vers, 6—o, 7
