Melbourne, December 30i A cable message received this morning from the head office states that tho Marconi Company has brought to a succession conclusion its action in tho French courts against La Compagnio General© Radio-Telegraphique and Lo Societ© Francaise d’Electrique and others for-an infringement of the Marconi “master toning” patent.The Marconi patent was declared

valid by the courts, and an injunction was granted against the defendants. The. court also ordered that the defendants’ apparatus should bo

confiscated, and that they should pay . damages and costs. ' The subject of the action was the French equivalent of the English “four sevens” Marconi patent, which was

upheld and declared valid by the High Court in .England. It was also the subject of a successful action by the Marconi Company in America. TRAMWAY FATALITIES. The Premier, referring to the forth- ■ coming visit to London to float a loan, said the Government was not borrowing because they were in a corner. As the result of the passing of the Gas Bill, a special meeting cf shareholders of the - Australian Gaslight Company decided to increase the capital by £435,000, appropriating that sum from the reserves and premium capital, issuing 70,833 fully paid-up shares of £6 each in the ratio of .one to every two shares now held.
