LEAGUE RUGBY,
Negotiations between the New South Wales Rugby League and the Northern Union, regarding the proposal that an English team should visit Australia next season, are to ho kept open. On the last occasion that a Northern Union team visited Australia, the local League paid the Union 60 per cent, of the gross receipts. For the proposed tour the New South Wales body offered 50 per cent. This was not acceptable to the Northern Union, which, furthermore, wanted some guarantee, that players would return to England. To the latter proposition the New South Wales League is willing to assent, and a cable which is to be sent to the Northern Union will convey an offer of better terms. A souvenir in the form of a mqdai facsimile of the badge of the team is to he presented to each member of the Australasian combination that toured England.
