BOY SHOOTS HIS MATE.
Sydney, December 20£., Jack Canham, 11 years of age, accidentally shot George Frederick Carpenter Weatherby, a boy of the same age, while they were playing on the footpath in Belmore Street, St. Peters. According to the information furnished by the police, the boys, had a pea-rifle, and a bicycle. They were taking turn about for short., rides. When Canham’s turn for a ride camp he left the pea-rifle with his companion, believing it to be unloaded. On returning from his ride he picked it up and pointed it at Weatherby in a playful manner, saying: “Look out, ‘Squib!’ ” He then pulled the trigger, snooting the unfortunate lad in the breast, the bullet passing through the body. He was taken to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, but he died before reaching the institution.
