THE PAHI MYSTERY
(Per Press Association.) Auckland, December 24
At the inquest at Paid on Mr. Sayers, the county clerk, who was thrown from his horse and killed, David Duffuar, the bank clerk who was missing for several days after the accident, gave evidence that he saw Sayers thrown from his horse. He did not inform anyone of tlie accident, and did not know what happened afterwards. He hoped it was a nightmare. The jury returned a formal verdict, adding that no blame was attributable to anyone. NAPIER WOOL SALE. ' Napier, December 27. Considerably over 22,000 bales of wool have been catalogued for the second sale on January 4th, establishing a record for Napier. INQUEST ON A SUICIDE. Wellington, December 27. At the hiquest on the body of Janies Henshilwood, pattern maker, who was found dead on the previous day, a verdict was returned that death was caused by taking cyanide of potassium.
