O THE UNIONIST POLICY
London, December 23,
Under Lord Derby’s chairmanship three hundred delegates of the Lancashire Unionists’ Association discussed the party differences behind closed doors, and then adjourned until January 11. Lord Derby said that the differences can be adjusted.
The Glasgow Herald says that if the Imperial conference expressed a wish for preference to he granted in other forin than food taxes the Unionist Governxnent must seek another way. Most Unionists would prefer that. The Irish Times says that Lord Lansdowne ami Mr Uonar Law have decreed that the general election will he fought on tariff reform, not Home Rule. The leaders had queered the electoral' outlook, which had changed from a certainty to a very alarming uncertainty.
