(Per Press Association.) Auckland, December 23. The test matches between the New Zealand and the English Davis Cup winners were continued to-day in line weather. Some very interesting play resulted, the New Zealanders winning one single and one double. Results;— Beamish beat Swanston, 6—l, 4—(3, 6 —\• Gilmer beat Lowe, 6—3, 6—3; Dixon beat Peacock, 6 —4, 6—o; Parke beat Fisher, 6—2, 6—2; Fisher and 01 liver beat Lowe and Beamish, 6—l, 6—6, 9—7 ; Parke and Dixon beat Peacock and Swanston, 6—4, 7—5.

The wicket and the weather were both good for the continuation of . the match between South Australia and New South Wales. New South Wales in their first innings scored 276 (Minuet b'39, Barnes 43, Emery not out 25), and in their second innings 240 (Trumper 11, Moore 48, Folkard 61, Arnett 60, Emery 23). South Australia won by an innings and 53 runs. NEW SOUTH WALES v. MANAWATU. Palmerston, December 23. The New South Wales teachers today beat the Manawatu teachers at Palmerston by two wickets, one minute before the call of time. The weather was fine, but the wicket slightly difficult. Batting first, Lutterworth opened for the local men with McLean. The former played fine cricket and ran up 91 runs before being caught on the leg boundary by Walsh. The visitors consider him and Lusk (Canterbury) the two best batsmen they have met. Bennett 46, Brennand 15, and Murchie 10 were the other double figure scorers in a total of 183.

In the New South Wales innings the partnership of Walsh and Barnes was the feature of the match. Barnes, with 62 to his credit, skied a ball to square leg and was caught. Smith followed and swiped freely, having five boundaries in his 29. The remaining wickets fell rapidly, and an exciting half hour’s contest ensued against time. With seven rims wanted and six minutes to play, Rogers -hit a boundary and then succumbed, low. next ball. Schrader joined Dunn and sent the winning hit to the boundary one minute from time.

SOUTH MELBOURNE v. MARLBOROUGH.

The South Melbohrne-Mar 1 borougli cricket match was resumed to-day in fine weather on a good wicket. The visitors brought their score to 391 (Kyle 40, McCormack 29, Purvis 13, Kelly 14, Pontlaud 0). Marlborough made a poor stand, only making 102 (Webb 14, Horton 15, W-liiteley 12, Martin 9, Whittle 9, Mills 7, Blinks 17, and Reed 7). Kelly took five wickets for 28 runs, Kenny seven for 29, Deers two for 26, and Purvis three for 11.
