NGAERE SCHOOL CONCERT.

(Ngaere Correspondent.)

Even in their wildest flights of imagination, the promoters of the conceit held on Friday night could scarcely have anticipated the success which attended their efforts. The audience was a large, and appreciative one, and as a result of the concert, the School Committee’s funds will be augmented bv at least £l3.

j’iie programme, almost without exception, was an excellent one, the first part being taken up with items by the school children, who generally acquitted themselves in tine style, reflecting a great deal of credit on their teachers, and showing evidence of careful training. The second part was dotted to contributions by grownups, amongst whom were a number of outside performers, including the Rev. Mr Dent, of Eltham, and Miss Cameron and Mr Bond, of “Our llegi-' input.” Possibly it is invidious to single out any item for special mention, but no doubt most of those who attended the concert'will agree, that “The Japanese Fan Drill,” by the school girls, and a recitation by Mr Bond, were the gems of the evening. A banjo trio was also very well received. Practically all the items were encored. At the close of the concert, Mr N. Jones, who presided, 1 presented JVMsb Koppel, on severing her connection with the school, with a silver Oatch (and wristlet) as a farewell gift 1 from the pupils. Mr Sims (headmaster) responded.
