THE DITTON ACCIDENT.

The Board of Trade report attributes the Ditton accident to the driver’s insufficient knowledge of that section of the line and misleading signals. ' The engine was insufficiently manned. The lire was caused by the use of gas. It recommends that companies use electricity. A cablegram from London dated September 18tli stated: The ChesterLiverpool express was derailed at Widnes owing to the engine failing to take the points on a steep incline approaching Ditton.
