The Japanese tramp Hakashi Kamaru arrived this morning from Sydney, on route to New Zealand, with timber and general cargo. While preparing to load hardwood for New Zealand, intimation was received from the New Zealand Seamen’s Union that they would refuse to handle her cargo, owing to her possessing an Asiatic crew. The loading was therefore stopped.

THE SLAUGHTERMEN’S FEDERATION.

Representatives of the North Island meat freezing companies will moot in Wellington to-morrow to consider the demands of the Slaughtermen’s Federation. The demands will be discussed in Christchurch at the end of the week by a conference of representatives of all freezing companies in the Dominion.
