A Sydney cablegram says that another attempt"!? ttr her'made- ter -train Lady Medallist. Shuja has been scratched for the Port Adelaide Cup. A cable from Fremantle says that R. Wootton, the well-known horse trainer, has arrived on a flying visit. He strenuously denies the report that he intends returning to Australia permanently as a result of the treatment of his son in England. “There is too much money there for me to do that,” he said. The reason for the general success of Australian jockeys in England was because they had more devil than the others. He considers that Australian stayers may be superior to English because of the hard way they are trained and thenbetter lung power, but the Australian sprinters are not in it nith the English ones. METROPOLITAN COMMITTEE. At a meeting of the Taranaki Metropolitan Committee licenses were granted as follows Trainers: C. H. Moss, C. R. Cockrane. Jockeys: Chas. Pearce, C, W.
