A Chinese shop in Wellington was broken into on Sunday night and about C(is was stolen.—P.A. wire. A meeting'for the -purpose of forming a branch of the United Labour Party will be held on Thursday Evening in tlie Foresters’ Hall. It having come to Mr E. G. Poser’s knowledge that some person has fabricated and put in circulation a damaging slander regarding his financial position, and Inat such slander has been accepted as true and also been given further publication by reputable persons in Stratford, Mr Foster, in another column of this issue, gives tli© matter an emphatic denial, and points to bis ten years’ business record in Stratford as tolling evidence of his probity and honourable business dealings. Mr Foster states that he is anxious to get at the originator of the calumny with a view to taking legr al proceedings.
