ARTHUR’S PASS TUNNEL
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, December 16
The question of the-" Arthur’s Pass Tunnel contract will he settled hy Cabinet next week. Meantime, the work is being carried on by McLean and Sons under an arrangement with the Government, which lasts until Christmas. Probably the Government will call tenders for the completion. If these are not satisfactory it is likely the Public Works Department will complete the work.
THE BOOTH MEMORIAL. Napier, December 16. Up to the present, Commissioner Richards has received £IBOO in donations and promised contributions town rds the Booth Memorial in Wellington, to cost £IO,OOO. The principal contributors are:—Mrs. Underwood, G. Hunter, M.P., W. F. Knight, Mr. and Mrs. Wells, each £100; Mrs. Lowry, £52 10s; A Soldier, J. Sidtjy, R. McNab, F. Milner, W. C. Buchanan, M.P., Mr. John Strang, Mr. W. Howard Booth, and the Ashhurst corps, £SO each. The memorial will take the form of a training institute for officers and nurses.
