SERIOUS STRIKE FIGHT.
A PITCHED BATTLE
New York, December 11. The strikers on the New York-Sus-quehannali Railway opened fire on a boat load of strike breakers from an ambush overlooking the Hudson River. Two detectives were killed, and a dozen strike breakers wounded. A pitched battle followed. The strikers were compelled to retire, and many were wounded. New York, December 12. The militia has been ordered to tire scene of the fight. The strikers first used blank cartridges, and when this was ignored fired a fatal volley.
