London, December 12. Truth recently announced tliat-sPrincc Battenberg intended to resign on the ground of ill-health. The Evening News states that Admiral Bridgman denies that ill-health caused his retirement. Mr Churchill, in the House of Commons, repeated that Admiral Bridgman’s health during the present year was the cause and declared that Admiral Bridgeman had a continuous struggle against illness. II is action was taken with the Premier’s concurrence. i
THE UNION BILL
(Received 13, 1 p.m.) London, December 12
The committee on the Union Bill adopted Sir Rufus Isaac’s amendment providing that where a union adopted political objects, a member might notify his refusal to contribute to the political fund and obtain exemption. The Opposition stigmatised the amendment as a broach of faith.
