BRITISH TENNIS TEAM.

The tennis tournament concluded to-day in bright hot weather. Rice and E. L. Jones beat Parke and Lowe, o—B, 6—3, 6—4. Dixon and Beamish beat Rice and E. L. Jones, 9—7, 6—4. The play was again full of interest, although the. winners of the tournament were already decided. Jones played confidently and cleverly. Dixon was very safe', and his heady placing and side shots were admirable. Britain won six rubbers thirteen sets, and 123 games, and New South Wales two rubbers, eight sets, and 112 games. Speaking at the dinner, Mr. Colquhoun, president of the Association, said that the rules of international tennis should be revised., The question of the venue of the Davis Cup was one of the most difficult. The suggestion that it should be played for alternately in different countries was a good one. Mr. Dixon declared that Alfred Jones played magnificently, and would be a worthy successor to Brookes.
