THE BROADWAY CHURCH.

S.S. ANNIVERSARY. Favoured with beautiful weather, the 22nd anniversary-of the Broadway Sunday School, celebrated yesterday, passed off most successfully. Large congregations attended the services, and the many daintily dressed children entered with real enjoyment Into the festivities. The Rev.. B. Metson, pastor of the church, delivered appropriate addresses in the morning, afternoon, and evening. The boy king, Josiah, was the text from whose life were drawn several helpful lessons at the morning service j wh le in the afternoon, a large magnet with nails bright and rusty, small and great, served as an object lesson to remind the audience that Jesus is the great moral magnet in the world capable of drawing all classes to Himself. At this meeting three capital recitations were rendered by the M sses Winnie Elgar and Doreen Barak, and Master Albert Bound, and a solo was finely sung by Miss Ruby Cartwright. In Jlie evening the preacher based his remarks Upon the text: “Let them first learn to show piety at home,” and in an address which was attentively listened to Mr Metson stated how every home might be made a power in the State, and be the means of rearing and retaining the truest and richest character. At night Miss E. Moon sang a - solo sympathetically. Throughout the day the bright singing of the children was much appreciated by all. Mr C. Birkett wielded the baton and Miss E. E. Robinson efficiently presided at the organ. To-morrow evening the celebrations w'll be continued with a tea and entertainment. The latter will be presided over by Mr J. B. Hine. M.P., who will also distribute the prizes.
