THE DISESTABLISHMENT BILL. London, December 6. On the first clause of the Disestablishment Bill, fixing the operation for July 1, after the passing of the Act, the churchmen fought hard to defer its operation for two years. The Government agreed to six months. The guillotine lopped four pages of amendments, and clause 2 passed undiscussed. TRADES UNION BILL. (Received 8.0 a.m.) London, December G. The committee on the Trades Union Bill rejected Mr. Wolmer’s amendment ordering the registrar of friendly societies to supervise the ballot. Mr. Macdonald characterised it as an insult. THE RAILWAY BILL. London, December C. One clause in the Railway Bill that has been introduced empowers companies to increase the rates after proof of a strike settlement, and an increased cost of working.
