VETERANS’ PENSIONS
(Per Press Association.) Christchurch, November ‘29
The Hon. F. Mi. B. Fisher wjas advised to-day by the Commissioner oi Pensions that the first military pension under the Military Pensions Act passed last session had been granted last evening. Over one hundred forms were posted from the head office to intending applicants, and posters have boons displayed on railway stations and at post offices throughout the Dominion, so that veterans can ascertain their position.
A CHARGE OF BIGAMY. Christchurch, November 29. Marion Cobledick, an elderly woman, wife of Win. Cohledick, inspector of wo’rks, was committed for trial to* clay on a charge of bigamy.
TURBULENT TERRITORIALS. Masterton, November 29. Sixteen out of twenty-eight Territorials who went on parade to-night marched out of the hall in protest against the appointment of a youthful Territorial to the position of lieutenant. There was a demonstration outside the hail against those who remained on parade, and stones were thrown on the root of the building. The police arrived on the scene and quelled the disturbance. The matter is to be reported to headquarters, and it is likely that an enquiry will be held.
