The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co.’s Australasian dairy produce report, under date London, 18th October, -contains the following:—Butter—Australian: The market is firm but quiet. There is plenty of medium butter in the market for buyers to select from. New Zealand: The Kaikoura parcels are fill unsalted and are on offer at 134 s per cwt. —meeting a very slow sale. Siberian-: Trade is on the quiet side, but prices are unaltered. Danish : The Northern markets are dull, and to facilitate business lower rates have been accepted. Irish: Production is falling off, but prices are unchanged. Argentine: The first arrival of new season’s goods—looo boxes all unsalted—came to hand, and were readily cleared at 126 s to 128 s per cwt., the quality proving excellent. Quotations for salted only; Victorian 100 sto 116 s per cwt.; New South Wales, 100 s to 116 s; Queensland, 100 s to 116 s; New Zealand, (not quoted); Danish, 130 sto 1325. Cheese: The market is slow. Canadian, white 64s to 665, coloured 64s to 66s per cwt.

Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. and Reduced, Stratford branch, report as follows: | On Tuesday, 19th inst., we held our j annual combined cattle fair in our ; Stratford yards, when there was a large attendance of buyers from all over Taranaki, and from as far distant as Taihape. We yarded 1200 head of cattle, most of which were sold at the hammer or afterwards. Fifteen month cattle came forward in large numbers, but the demand was not very keen for young cattle. We quote prices as follows:—3£ to 4-year old bullocks 125 s to 140 s; 2 to 2£-year steers 93s to 97s 6d,. 2-year empty heifers 80s to 97s 6d, 15-month heifers, Shorthorn sorts, 54s 6d for small stuff, to 75s for well grown heifers, 15-month Jersey and Jersey-Hblstein heifers 88s 6d to 105 s, 15-month steers small and in poor condition 52s 6d to 78s 6d for lines of good condition. Store cows, low in condition and small 41s to 62s 6d, ordinary sorts 65s to 82s 6d, forward and fat cows 90s to 1345, bulls 37s 6d to 1245. We also held 'a sale in our dairy pens where there were about 30 heifers yarded, and prices realised were from 95s to 127 s 6d.

On Friday, 22nd inst., we held our usual monthly sale in our Kohuratahi yards, when there was a good yarding of, 3QO head of cattle and 300 head of sheep, also a large attendance of buyers. We quote, prices as follows: 2 to 2)-year steers 85s to 955, 2-year empty heifers 86s to 97s 6d, 15-month steers 60s to 71s, mixed yearlings 57s 6d to 655, store cows 50s to 80s, bulls 57s to 10Qs, fat sheep 14s to 17s Gel, dry 6-tooth ewes poor 10s 3d, ewes and lambs very poor ils 6d to 13s 6d, wethers 13s Gd, ewes, mixed ages, 90 per cent, of lambs 17s Bd. 1 During the week we have sold a large number of sheep privately for forward delivery, prices being as follows:—Wethers, 4. and 6-tooth, 14s 6d to 15s; 4 and 5-year ewes 10s 6d; wether lambs, 9s 6d; mixed lambs, 10s.
