SPORTING.
(By “Cicero.”) The Takapuna Spring Meeting starts to-morrow, and judging from the large acceptances received, should be a great success. Of the dozen engaged in the Trial, Mamnvera is sure to start favourite. Eight, remain in the Cambria Handicap. Lady Alicia, on Auckland form, will see a very short price. Waiorewa is giving away a lot of weight to a field of “moderates” in the Borough Handicap, hud with Royal Ir sh should make an interesting race. Sphinx, who ran verp prominently at Auckland, has accepted in the Tiri Hurdles, while Captain Paul is carrying top weight amongst a poor lot in the Ponui Hurdles. No less than 31 remain in the Melrose Handicap, including the much-boomed Tripoli. A poor lot figure in the St. Andrew’s Handicap. Semolina ran well at Auckland.
