Rear-Admiral Jirram has been appointed to the command of the China Squardon. Rear-Admiral King-Hall has boon appointed to the command of the Cape Station. Vice-Admiral Sir G. May succeeds Admiral" Sir Win. May as commander-in-chief at Plymouth.

Vice-Admiral Sir H. Jackson succeeds Rear-Admiral Ironbr.dge as private secretary to the First Lord of the Admiralty.

Some surprise is expressed at the appointment of a rear-admiral to the Onina Station, which is interpreted to indicate that the Eastern fleet will bo placed under the supreme command cf the Admiral of the Australian Squadron.
