AUSTRALIAN POLITICS.

GRIFFITHS’ ADMINISTRATION. Sydney, November 23. In the Assembly in the discussion on the Public Works Estimate, the Griffiths’ administration was severely criticised. Mr Henley claimed that chaos reigned from top to bottom of the Department, and was deliberately charged with maladministration. The very dogs had been harking at the maladministration for the last twelve months. If the Minister refused to accept the challenge to make communication inquiry wide enough to cover the charge he would not only ho the biggest maladministrator, hut also the biggest bounder in the State. Another member declared the fat man of the future would bo associated with the Labour Party. Mr Griffiths, in a heated defence, characterised the story alleging that he had invested £IO,OOO in England, w.here ho was going to, live when lie retired from polities, as the blackest lie. He was a poorer man to-day than when he took office. Mr Levien retorted; “You are a bigger fool than 1 took you for.” MR. WOOD’S MOTION. (Received 9.35 a.m.) There is a possibility of Mr Wood’s motion being shelved. Mr Holman states that unless the Speaker, insists on giving it priority, it is unlikely it will he discussed during the present session, and will he put among the list of undesirable motions, which at the end of every session are consigned to oblivion. Tire more general opinion is that Speaker Willis will insist on it being taken on Monday. Mr Holman announced that tire Government hoped to end the session in December. A numbof of Bills will be jettisoned.
