Tne quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the" United Kingdom is 2.745.000 quarters, and for the Continent 1,825,000, Atlantic shipments amount to 4,374,000 quarters, and Pacific to 70,000. The total for Europe is 1.360.000 quarters, and for Australasia 37,000. HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. Wellington, November 18. The following is the High Commissioner’s cable, under date London, November 1 (quotations unless otherwise specified being average market prices on spot):— . , Mutton.—The market is steady, and prices are, being well maintained. There is a gobd demand for all descriptions of New Zealand. Canterburyfid, N orth Island 4£d. Lamb.—The market is firm. There is a better tone in the market this week. Canterbury 5-id, other than C an ternary s^d. Beef.—The market is quiet, hut rather steadier. New Zealand 3|d, fores 2fd. Butter.—The market is quiet, with a tendency in favour of buyers. Buyers -are 'holding back, expecting tne. prices to go lower. The Turakina’w shipment of butter arrived in good condition, realising from 116 s to 120 s. Australian 113 s, Argentine 113 s, Dan ish 128 s, Siberian 109 s. Cheese.—-The market is quiet, but steady. Tho Turakina’s shipment of cheese arrived in gqod condition, realising from 61s to 635. Hemp.—The market is quieter. Buyers are cautious on account of the big prices. Spot New Zealand good lair grade £34, fair £3l 10s. Fair current Manila £35. A forward shipment ol New Zealand good fair brought £3t ss, fair £33. Fair current Manila £35. The output from Manila for .the week was 20,000 bales. Cocksfoot Seed.—There is .a better demand; quotations are nominal. Wheat.—The market is dull ; very little business is doing. New, Zealand long-berried cx. granary per quaitor oi 49310, 395. short-berried 38s 6d. Oats.—The market is quiet hut mod crate business is doing. New Zealand short (SpaiT«whiSis'), ex granary, pc, quarter cf 3841 b, 265. Beans/—There is more demand. The stock is small. New Zealand beans, f.a.q., (new crop), per 5041 b, 33s 6d. Peas.—The market is weak and inactive. New Zealand peas (Partridge) per 5101 b, 39s 6d. Wool.—The market is firm, with more enquiry. Current quotations tor Bradford tops: 36’s, low crossbreds, lr 2jd; 40’s, low crossbreds, ls_3d; 4-i’s, medium crossbred, Is 4d; 50’s, half breds, Is 7|d; 56’s, quarterbreds, 1 lOd; 60’s, merinos, 2s 3d. Sydney 7, November 18. Butter is quoted at 104 s, a dec.iu: of 4s. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 15th instant:—Frozen Meat: The market is slightly better for mutton, weaker for beef, and there is a moderate demand for lamb.
