STRATFORD SHOW. Tho homo industries and technical classes will be a special feature of the Stratford Show. In the home industries provision is made to cover most of the thrifty wives and daughters’ art with the oven. Prizes will he awarded for home-made bread (white and brown), scones, cakes, pastry, gingerbread, shortbread, plum pudding, toffee, Jam tarts, biscuits, sausage rolls, sponge rolls, sponge sandwich, cocoanut ice, sweets, also jams, bottled fruits, marmalade, pickles, jellies, wine, etc., etc. The housewife will also be able to compete with a selection of one dozen hen eggs (to be judged on weight and appearance) and one dozen duck eggs to bo judged likewise. There are also several classes provided for honey in this section. Under the heading of sewing and fancy work, numerous prizes are to be won for such as sofa cushions, Mount Mellick work, point lace, drawn thread work, novelty pin cushion, ribbon work tea cosy, l huckaback work, buttonhole in linen, pillow sham, needle painting, afternoon tray cloth, collection of fancy work, etc., etc. In school children exhibits there are classes for plain sewing, hem-stitching, blouses , cushion in stencil work, and others. Technical classes provide for testing for butter-fat in milk (boys) and a similar class for girls, also testing for moisture in butter. A prize of a gpld medal will bo given for the best descriptive essay of the Stratford Show of 1912, by a boy or girl attending school whose average attendance is over 250. A similar prize will lie given for children with a less attendance of 250. The first competition will bo classed as Class A (the candidate being 14 years or less) and the second competition will bo designated Class B (tho candidate being 15 years or less). Entries close on 21st November.
