New Zealand Meat.—Sheep, Southland 4 7-16, North Island 4 5-16 d, best brands 4 7-lGd ; lambs, Cantcrbruy light and medium 55d heavy sd, beef fores 2§d, binds 3|d. Australian Meat.—Beef, fores 2£d, hinds 3Jd. South American Meat.—Frozen fores 2|d, hinds 3 Id. Other meats unchanged.
Wheat.—Steady but slow. Cargoes arc slow of sale. The Chicago market is irregular. The Washington agricultural bureau estimates the corn harvest at 3,169,137,000 bushels. The estimates for spring and winter months and oats are unchanged. The wheat and hour afloat totalled 2.635.000 quarters for the Continent; 2.055.000 quarters, Atlantic shipments amounted to 506,000 quarters, and Pacific to 38,000 quarters. The total for Europe was 1,600,000 quarters, Australasia 7000 quarters. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS, Sydney, November 11. Butter shows a further fall of 4s. Potatoes are very scarce, and have been sold at £lB a ton. HIGH COMMISSIONER’S CABLE. The following is the High Commissioner’s cable under date, Loudon, November 9. Note : Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot. Mutton.—The market is quiet, but holders are firm. Canterbury 4)d, North Island 4£d. Lamb.—The/market is steady, and prices arc being well maintained ; Canterbury s§d, other than Canterbury SRI.
Beef.—The market is dull; there is a large supply of Irish beef; New Zealand hinds 3jjd, fores 2|d.
Butter.—The market is quiet with a tendency in favour of buyers, but it is rather .unsettled; the average price for the week for choicest New Zealand was 121 s, for Australian 117 s, for Argentine 117 s, for Danish 128 s, and for Siberian 109 s.
Cheese.—The market is slightly weaker, with less demand; Canadian white 625, coloured 635. Hemp.—The market is very firm for spot; New Zealand good fair £35, fair grade £33 10s, forward shipment about the same price. Spot, fair current Manila £35, January-March fair current Manila £36. The output from Manila for the week amounted to 19,000 bales.
Newton King’s Stratford Weekly Report.
At the Hay-market on Saturday there was a medium attendance, pigs were penned in full numbers every pen being taken, practically all classes were represented. There was a good demand and prices' ruling were about par with last sale. Quotations: —Slips and weaners 13s to £1 2s, small stores £1 3s 6d to £1 5s 6d,*medium do £1 6s 6d, £1 10s to £1 14s, sows ,£3 12s Od.
At the Mart.—Poultry: Hens Is 9d to 3s 6d, roosters 2s to 2s 9d, ducks 2s 5d to 2s 9d, potatoes (table) 12s cwt., seed potatoes llp-to-1 fates Ss Gil to 9s 6d cwt, White Rocks 12s 6d cwt., Red Rocks 10s to lis 6d cwt. Furniture and sundries making faiir prices.
