WARSHIPS ON THE MOVE.

The King Edward, Zealandia, Hindustan, and Africa, steaming eighteen knots per hour, have passed eastward. The Hibernia, Britannia, Commonwealth, and Dominion are coaling in readiness to move. All colliers arriving are despatched, eastwards.

SUFFRAGETTES. (Received 11.45 a.m.) London, November 7. Fines were imposed on some of the suffragettes who smashed windows in Bond and Oxford Streets, with a fortnight’s imprisonment in default. Other cases were remanded owing to the seriousness of the damage. MISCELLANEOUS CABLES. The African footballers beat Oxford by six points to nil. Thirty thousand signatures were obta’ned in a few days by the Daily Express to the testimonial to Lord Roberts for encouraging the nation’s preparedness for war. The New York Stock Market is cheerful after the result of the elections. Beet sugar is likely to be affected if the tariff changes are ap proved.
