HIGH AND DRY ON RAT ISLAND

(Per Press Association.) Whangarei, November 7

The Union Steam Ship Company’s steamer Rosamond went ashore at 5.20 this morning on Rat Island, Whangarei Harbour, while negotiating tin channel at the Limestone and Cement Works.

At midday the Rosamond was high and dry.. An endeavour will be made to refloat the vessel to-night - at high water It is probable the work will he compelled to wait until the spring tides owing to the inability on account of the narrowness of the channel to other steamers assisting to pull her off.
