FIRE AT PRIVATE HOTEL.
SON,OF OCCUPIER INJURED. (Per Press Association A (<i . Auckland, November 4. A two-storied, building in uppei Queen istreet, known as Greerton’s Private Hotel, -.was destroyed by fire at 2 o’clock this morning. Eighteen boarders escaped unhurt, with the exception of a son of Mr: Howard (occupier of i the house), win either jumped from- -the. high balcom or fell from a ladder-. He was picked up bleeding and, (unconscious, anc. removed to the hospital. The contents and building were destroyed. Except a few personal belongings, nothing was saved by tin boarders. '
INJURIES RESULT FATALLY. Auckland, Later. Sydney John Howard, aged 23, who was injured in the fir© at Upper Queen Street, died after being admitted to the hospital.
