AMUSEMENTS.

HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE

Last night there was a splendid house at Bernard’s Pictures, and the new programme was excellently received, and pronounced by many to be the “begt yet.” The Gaurnont Graphic has long challenged the supremacy of the Rathe Erert's Gazette, and this was never so strikingly displayed as last night, when the Gaurnont Canpa ny showed a film unequalled by any previous production. The picture was immensely popular, and its remarkable series of current events were heartily applauded. The dramas proved a fine lot. Maurice Costello, the brilliant American actor, figures prominently in a “Spider’s Web,” a thrilling drama associated with the frenzied finance of America’s greatest city. Associated with him are several of the most prominent actors and actresses, with the result that the real live story is admirably portrayed. “Dark heather’s Strategy” is a line Indian film. Some people do not like this cl iss of picture, lint all appreciated the film screened last evening, if applause, long and sustained, is an indication. A good collection of comics completes the li-rt of pictures in this splendid programme.
