ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.

ACCIDENTAL DEATH. (Per Press Association. 1 Danncvirke, November 1. An inquest was held to-day on Charlotte Lena Anderson, a two-year-old infant killed by a fall from a horse at Tamaki yesterday. The jury found that death was accidental, no blame being attached to anybody, and added a rider drawing attention to the danger of carrying infants on horseback.

RESULT OF SOMNAMBULIC ACT. Invercargill, November 1. A peculiar accident happened at an early hour this morning, when Mr Thos. R. Christie, of the firm of Christie Bros., Dunedin, fell from a bedroom window into the yard below, a distance of 16 feet. Christie was on a visit to Invercargill in connection with the sitting of the Conciliation Court in the plumbers’ dispute. Shortly before 5 o’clock this morning he was found lying in the yard, by the hotel porter, being unconscious. He regained consciousnes and was taken to the hospital. His left arm is fractured above the wrist, while he is severely bruised and shaken. it is believed that the accident was tho result of the victim’s walking in his sleep.

“OUT ON A FOUL.” Timaru, November 1. John J. Gnun, the young bantam boxer, who was one of the New Zealand team to visit tho Australasian championship meeting, committed suicide to-day. Ho was found floating in the harbour, and died after being got out. He had a bottle of rat poison in his pocket, half emptied. He is said to have been depressed by adverse awards in recent contests. LAUNDRYMAN’S DEATH. Timaru, November 1. ■ A young man named P. J. Collins, employed at a steam laundry, fell backwards w'hile carrying clothes on October 3, and hurt his head. He was in the hospital till October 20, and when he returned home still complained of a pain in his head. Yesterday morning he died unexpectedly.
