POISON IN SANDWICHES. Sydney, October 27. Out of a party of 18 picnickers, 12 are in the hospital suffering from ptomaine poisoning from eating sandwiches. Two arc in a serious condition. SYDNEY TRAM FATALITY. Sydney, October 27. A peculiar tram accident occurred to-day. A fuse blow out, and the molten lead poured on to the passengers. Three jumped out. A man named KiShovitch was killed, and his son and a lady were seriously injured. HENLEY-ON-YARRA REGATTA. Melbourne, October 27. It is estimated that there was an attendance at the Heuley-on-Yarra regatta of 100,000. The Albert Parle crew' won the Grand Challenge Cup. BALLARAT BAND CONTEST. Melbourne, October 27. i Twenty thousand were present at the finals of the Ballarat Band Contests. The Rozcllo Band, New South Wales, w'on the championship with 187 points, Geelong Municipal Band being second with 186.
