SPORTS PROTECTION LEAGUE.
("Per Press Association.) Wellington, October 26. A meeting of the Board of Control of the Sports Protection League was held to-day. Sir George Clifford was in the chair. The secretary, Mr Paape, reported that 73 branches had been established in the principal centres of the Dominion. Since the work of organisation was started twelve months ago, lie had travelled over 18,000 miles. , The Board voted £SO each to Dunedin, Auckland, and Invercargill to liquidate accounts incurred at the start of the branches. It is held that the League had justified its existence, hut it is thought it will bo necessary to maintain the interest of members by enlarging the area and scope of the organisation. A suggestion that a conference of branch representatives he held at Wellington to define a definite course of action for the future operations of the League was approved. The Hon. Dr. Collins suggested combined British representation at the Olympic Games at Berlin in 1916. The Board favourably considered the suggestion, and it was resolved to ask the chairman of the Olympic Committee here to confer with Dr. Collins.
