A. AND P. MATTERS.

PALMERSTON NORTH SHOW.

Preparations for the big event are now on the eve of completion, and the forthcoming Show is looked forward to with great interest. A big effort lias been made by the committee to ensure complete success, and if the elements are favourable another easy record is in sight. Totals of all the entries are not yet available, but a big advance on last year’s aggregate is anticipated. Heavy entries have been received in competitions, horses, cattle, dogs, and all the school and industrial divisions are a great deal ahead of last year, which was one of the largest shows ever hold at Palmerston North. The competition in the cattle classes i? keener this year than ever before. The committee had already anticipated this by erecting some forty new cattle nans, but now find the space will barely accommodate the increase of almost one hundred entries on last year’s cattle totals. Shorthorns, a division somewhat neglected in the past, has come not exceedingly strong, as also lias the Hereford division. The three purebred dairy classes, Ayrshire, -Tersoy. and Holstein will provide a show in themselves. Visitors to Palmerston next week will get full value for their money. THE HAWERA SHOW. The committee of tho Egmont A. and P. Association deserve praise for the manner in which they have catered for all classes and breeds of dogs at their forthcoming Show at Hawera on 20th and 21st November. Several special prizes are offered in addition io libo'al prize money, and all dogs exhibited will be well cared for and properly benched and fed. Many enthusiastic fanciers of the district wi 1 take charge of visiting canines if required. This should influence owners outside Hawera to enter their dogs. The whole of the dogs will be under the care of an experienced manager, who has been appointed by the Association. A permanent well-appointed building is provided for the dogs, and a competent caretaker is to be in attendance day and night. Schedules nmv be obtained from the secretary (Mr. F. G. Trewcek).
