PRIMITIVE METHODISTS.

TARANAKI SYNOD. The Synod continued its sessions throughtout Wednesday. An ,incre ise for the district was reported in connection with Sunday-school and teachers, and keen discussion took place on the work amongst the young. It was shown that a good deal of the debt had been paid off the churches throughout Taranaki during the year, and the various financial accounts are still in a healthy condition. , . The following resolutions on pul lie questions were unanimously carried : 1. Bible in Schools.—The Synod unanimously endorsed the following resolutions of the P.M. Public Questions Committee: That in view of the divided state of opinion in our church concerning the platform of the Bible in Schools League, which advocates the New South Wales system, including denominational teaching in our State schools, and also bearing in mind the fact that we shall so soon cease to have a separate existence as a Church in this Dominion, this committee does not deem it wise to make anjLofficial pronouncement on the Bible in schools question. 2. Gambling.—That this Synod protests against the attempt at present being made to increase the number of race days allowed in this Dominion. We call upon the Government to risk every thing in order to defeat so retrograde a proposal. i 3. Licensing.—That this Synod recommends the Primitive Methodists of Taranaki to accept the pledge of the New Zealand Alliance not to vote for Parliamentary candidates who will not advocate the reduction of the threefifths majority.
