WELLINGTON AMUSEMENT.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, October 22. Within the last two or three years four new picture houses have been built in Wellington, besides four existing buildings converted to the same purpose. Another building is under construction, and the new Opera House will shortly be commenced. When all are in full swing, counting the Town Hall and its concert chamber—both of which are in constant use—there will be thirteen places of amusement in the city. Plans are said to be drawn for at least one more. The Opera House Company has accepted the tender of Messrs Sanders Bros., Wellington, of £33,000 for the erection of a new Opera House in Manners Street. The building is to be finished by Christmas, 1913, and will have the finest stage, south of the Lino and the second largest auditorium in Australasia.
