Although ths provisions of the Notional Provident Fund, the latest scheme for the encouragement of thrift, introduced by the Government, ■is/designed for the good of the masses, I: .10 public of the Dominion has not f..lily realised the exact ai ns and ob ject's of the fund. To repair this neglect the Government lias appointed Mr J. J. O’Gorman, of the Postal Department, olHcial lecturer in connec lion with the fund. During the week ue will address the employees at various fat-, rones and shops, during the lunchooi( hour, and will fully explain the ob jects of the scheme. Mr O’Gorman wall be prepared to enrol intending i-unrrihutors, and during the week h ivili be iu attendance at the It out Office counter between 7 and 8 o’clock each evening, to give any information required. Grimly. the fund makes provision for a payment not exceeding £6 iomedical attendance on the birth of a conr.ributor’s child or children, after contributing for twelve months; an allowance after three months’ incap unity to work, of 7s Gel per week for each child of a contributor under 14 rears or age, due after contributing for five vears; a nensinn at 1 lie ago of GO of* 10b. 20s ‘ 80s. and 10s. according to the scale of contribution (the payment of this pension will not affect any rights under the Old Age tensions Act); an allowance, on the death of the contributor, of 7s 6d pe • ■veek for each child under 14 rears of age; and 7s Gel For the widow as long as any child is under 14 years of age, due after contributing for five rear".
