,AN UNLAWFUL CONTRACT. (Per Press Aissociation.) . Taihape, October 16. Reserved judgment was given today by Mr Thomson, S.M., in the case Ramsbottom v. Beattie, claim £lO2 19s Id,' being the share ef money received and retained by defendant as the proceeds of a ticket on "Tatts." The Magistrate decided that the law did not give the parties the right to recover on an' illegal contract. The alleged promise of the defendant to pay did not assist the plaintiff, the agreement being unlawful. The Court would not assist tho plaintiff to recover, and a non-suit was entered, with costs £3 3s.
