A FEW FEET FROM DEATH.
(Received 1.25 p.m.) New York, October 15. The steamer, San Francisco, loaded with a cargo of explosives intended for tho fleets' use, narrowly escaped colliding with the Government yacht, on which were the Secretary of the Navy and other high officials. The disaster was avoided by a few feet. If the vessels had hit, the captains admitted nothing could have prevented the entire destruction of both.
